I am so grateful that Jasper was given the opportunity to perform an English musical at school. Music and English are Jasper’s favourite subjects and apparently this performance has boosted his confidence. Due to the pandemic, Jasper experienced quite a lot of challenges and obstacles. Nonetheless, with the support and efforts of all teachers, crews and the director of the musical, the show was successfully performed. I am very proud to see everyone’s hard work and persistence. Thank you.

It’s amazing! These were my words after I finished watching those lovely students’ performance. My son has been selected to join various dramas since he was in Primary 2. I remembered my boy was so joyful and excited after his first practice. He felt proud of being a member of this show. Because of the COVID-19, they changed to online web training and the show was postponed. My son was worried that the show would be suspended and felt upset about it. Luckily, this show could finally go on although it was changed from a live show to a pre-recording. But this could still give those students a great experience to learn how to record a film. Eventually, after almost two years, they made it happen. Thank you for the persistence of all the teachers, actors, actresses and crew members so that we can enjoy this great ‘MOVIE’.

Parent of Linus Chan Chun Chuen (2020-21 graduate)

The play itself was absolutely brilliant, i.e. the songs, costumes, make-up, the stage decorations, the story etc. Literally the whole performance was highly entertaining. However, I was more impressed by what Linus had benefitted from participating in the performances. Through the series of practices and rehearsals, Linus has gained confidence in performing in front of the crowds/cameras. His concentration, language and communication skills have been significantly enhanced. Furthermore, Linus has learnt how to cooperate with others and thereby developed better emotional intelligence. The whole project has helped nurture friendship and created strong bonds among those involved. Last but not least, the musical has aroused Linus’ keen interests in English language and performing arts. Linus really enjoyed the play and was very proud to be involved. Thank you Kei Wan for giving him such a valuable opportunity for the enrichment.

Commitment - I appreciate that CCC Kei Wan (Aldrich Bay) Primary School has spent precious time and monetary resources on extra-curricular activities to achieve whole person development. This school is famous for its academic and musical achievements. It is highly appreciated that the school further develops English Drama to explore the unveiled potential of each individual. Stage, props, costumes and lighting are beautiful!

Passion - I was amazed that the efforts teachers had paid. Zoom classrooms had been arranged for home schooling during COVID-19. Once it was feasible, in-person rehearsals were conducted. The musical had been dragging on for a long time, but the teachers never gave up. With the understanding and perseverance of parents and teachers, a short face-to-face session was able to be provided to parents and videos for more audiences. I am deeply impressed by the professionalism of the teachers, show director, audio, lighting and alumni who have participated in the entire process. Thank you!

Parent of Venus Lee Yat Hei (4D)

“If I knock the door, will he open and answer…” Venus cherished, “every time I sing, I feel…” Since Venus joined the English Musical – “In His Eyes” as a tiny timid student with a sweet smile, her journey has been filled with lots of fond memories and has been completely fulfilled. We, as parents, were greatly satisfied when we saw her performing on the stage and participating in the video shooting as a self-confident, independent and self-reliant girl with a very positive outlook towards life and a strong belief in God. All the teachers and directors of the Musical she has been associated with, have directly or indirectly played a pivotal role in shaping her personality and preparing her to face the challenges of life ahead. My deepest gratitude and a big Thank You to all the mentors in the Musical for their patience & perseverance which have made all these possible. Hats off to Director Siu Man, Teacher Chris and Mr. So for playing a vital role in laying a strong foundation to performing literally and artistically. The training was full of joy and laughter. It has not only broadened Venus’ scope in performing arts but also developed her creativity with a sense of humor. I would also like to thank Vice Principal Tai and Miss Tse for encouraging the students to dream big, think out of the box and work on their passion. With their guidance and motivation, all the little actors and actresses have made every character alive, full of feeling and emotion. Whenever Venus sings the songs of the Musical, I feel that she treasures every little moment in the Musical with optimism and assurance. Once again, thanks to the Crew!

My boy loves watching musicals but had never gotten involved. He felt excited and satisfied to get his first attempt. He was grateful to the director, teachers, staff and classmates. He was also very impressed with the video recording part. All students became professionals with make-up, hair setting and costumes. He felt confident to perform on the stage. It was really a valuable experience. This musical already lasted for two years under the pandemic. It was very challenging to practise online because all the students needed to be concentrated and patient. My boy treasured  the moment they could resume practice at school at the final stage. When this musical launched, I felt touched by the actors, the story and the songs. It reminded me I should appreciate all the people and circumstances we face every day. Everyone has his/her own strengths. With the great and unconditional love from God, all of us are precious. This musical is indeed a blessing for all Kei Wan students and parents.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the school, an English Musical was organized by the teachers and alumni. The show was performed by the students from P.3 to P.6. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the rehearsal was seriously affected. It was a memorable experience for Natalie to participate as one of the team members. She has experienced a lot of unforgettable moments and scenes. In the end, the entire team overcame difficulties and achieved the final production. She has built up friendship among the team and learnt a lot of things outside the traditional school lessons. The contribution of teachers and alumni in this event has given the students a chance to contribute to the school, which can be a role model for their successors.

Parent of Xavier Zhang (4D)

With the participation in this English Musical, my boy has gained a better understanding of musicals. Throughout the training, I saw his earnest involvement and wholehearted commitment. I could even sense how keen he was on this musical from his practice after the class. He was also enthusiastic and actively involved in the filming part. Lastly, I would like to give my heartfelt gratitude to the school for organizing such a wonderful and meaningful musical, so that everyone can be inspired by the musical!

Parent of Heiley Tam Hei Lam (3C)

The musical “In His Eyes” for celebrating CCC Kei Wan (Aldrich Bay) 50th Anniversary has been wrapped up in applauses and cheers. Its positive impacts imparted onto Heiley are, however, long lasting. One of the songs “If I Knock the Door” still lingers in my mind of which the lyrics “keep on asking and it will be given to you......” best concludes our overall experience. Since Heiley participated in the musical, there was no fast lane to success, she went through all the ups and downs just like riding a roller-coaster. First and foremost, she had to catch up with the pace of others (other than she is the youngest and she is new to the team, other veterans had gone through training for nearly a year - this was postponed due to the pandemic), hence she had to put double efforts into practices. Obstacles like forgetting to pause while overlooking the rest signs of the songs, turning to  the wrong side while learning to dance via Zoom, could not reach the highest note even singing out loud from top of her lungs, etc.....all were not uncommon. But thanks the Lord who led Heiley to overcome all the odds and finally, the musical team shined on the stage. We have witnessed His faithfulness as He is delighted to give when one asks, but during the process, we were enlightened that “persistence” is the key, keep on asking, never give up lightly. The Holy Writ also mentions “Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think”, likewise, beyond our expectation, Heiley has grown in many aspects. For instance, she is getting more endurance under unfavourable conditions, she is being transformed from a give-up easily to a never-give-up mindset. Furthermore, through interactions with the teachers and schoolmates like sharing the joys and worries, receiving their guidance and forbearance, going through all the odds hand-in-hand together, unknowingly, a sense of belonging to the school has been sowed in her heart. Now Heiley enjoys school life much more than ever before. More positive outcomes are yet to be mentioned due to my shortage of vocabulary. Last but not least, we are grateful that Heiley was able to be part of the musical team, and we believe that more blessings will be down-poured from God if we keep on asking because we are 100% sure everyone in CCC Kei Wan (Aldrich Bay) is special in God’s eyes!

‘’It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so. ’‘——By Mark Twain. The story of the drama refreshes our mind. The Production crew of the drama is very professional. Besides, the original music arrangement is amazing. By the guidance of the teachers and the crew, train up my kids to respect team work and practice make perfect. I am so happy to see the final video is so close to perfection. I appreciate the school principal to encourage the teaching team to apply this Other Learning Opportunities in CCKWPS. I would like to say a big thank you to all the participants to make it happened.

Parent of Aden Ho Chun Him      (2020-21 graduate)

I am very grateful that Aden can take part in the English musical ‘In His Eyes’. He has learnt a lot from participating and acting in this musical. Apart from practicing in acting training, Aden has developed an interest in knowing more about working backstage, in particular the skills to compose songs. This can further enhance his music learning. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all musical staff, alumni, teachers, and students. Despite the difficulties, a very memorable and meaningful musical has been produced.

Parent of Hailey Choi Hei Chi (4D)

The musical for celebrating the 50th anniversary of the school clashed with the Covid-19 pandemic. Practice sessions for the musical were initially changed from face-to-face classes to online mode, and then changed back to face-to-face rehearsals. We appreciate that everything went well. My child has learnt how to spin the plates. She now misses doing the practice sessions with other schoolmates. On a day after the recording, she told me that she really wants to continue to practice and make improvements with her schoolmates. I was touched by what she said. She has grown up.

Parents of Mavis Man Hei Yan (4D)

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the school, it is a pleasure for my daughter, Mavis to be selected in the special event "English Musical". I would like to sincerely express my gratitude towards all the teachers for their guidance and support. I found Mavis herself very blessed and privileged because of you.

The journey to the English Musical was amazing and full of ups and downs. Though the novel coronavirus epidemic has brought exceptional challenges to the school, thanks be to God for his best arrangement. A team of passionate and experienced teachers have overcome the difficulties and made the dream of an English Musical to come true!

Recalling the early days of practice, Mavis faced a lot of difficulties including the vocabulary of the script, the unfamiliar dance style and the limited practice via zoom lessons owing to COVID-19. Sometimes she felt frustrated and even thought of giving up. Fortunately, I am grateful for the teachers’ patient and careful guidance, encouragement and appreciation. Mavis has gradually become more confident in acting, and it made her feel more satisfied than ever.

Throughout the practices and performance, Mavis learned how to cherish the opportunities granted by teachers, to be proactive and optimistic in facing challenges and express gratitude for the support of teachers and family members. In the end, Mavis has confidence and strives to achieve her goals.

Parents of Toby Lai Tsz To (6A)

We are the parents of Toby Lai who is a graduate from Class 6A. When Toby was in P.5, he was invited to participate in the English musical for celebrating the 50th anniversary of the school. We are so pleased to see that Toby was very excited and eager to share with us every time after he finished the rehearsals. He told us a lot about his character, for example, the songs and the dancing steps that he learnt, the costume that he wore, and also the makeup of his character. He performed to us sometimes, too. We can tell how much he liked to perform in the musical. Toby has learnt the importance of teamwork and how to care about others. To our surprise, Toby has also made some improvements in his English such as English speaking and listening skills. We are very glad to see how confident Toby was to perform on the stage. Although students could not have a live performance in the theatre because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it did not stop them from bringing out their best performance on the day of recording. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the teachers of the musical team and also the Principal for their guidance and support. I hope the English musical in Kei Wan (Aldrich Bay) can bring some new learning experiences to other students in the school.

Parent of Alicia Cheng Yan Yuet (2020-21 graduate)

Taking part in the musical performance was one of the best and most rewarding experiences for my daughter, Alicia. It was really awesome to see Alicia coming home after the musical classes in a very happy mood, with lots of wonderful things to say about the musical training.

We would like to thank the school, the dedicated teachers and the professional stage crews for offering Alicia the opportunity to take part in the musical performance. You have definitely opened Alicia’s eyes to the musical theatre world. The scripts you wrote, the musical pieces you composed, the stage you decorated, the activities you planned, and the friendships you helped to foster…. they are all incredible, and it is helping Alicia to believe that school and musical performance are fun and marvellous. Alicia has undoubtedly gained the confidence that she needs to bloom socially and advance academically.

May we again express our sincere gratitude to the school and all of the teachers for your hard work and the extraordinary learning experience you provide for the students. You create such a loving, welcoming and accepting environment where every student could shine in their own unique way. Thanks for realizing our little ones’ big dreams.
